![]() Make sure the SSL field is set to none on both IMAP and SMTP. In Mailspring, you connect to localhost as your imap server, then select your custom ports that davmail is using. or may be just a sneaky way for Microsoft to promote Outlook and discourage other email clients. The important configuration is in davmail to use the correct owa server. Then it forwards that through localhost with custom ports, allowing you to connect with imap using the client of your choice.Īfter configuring Davmail, Mailspring could connect with IMAP like a charm. So, I turned to my good old friend google and found DavMail.ĭavmail is a small program that runs on your desktop and connects to Exchange. Thunderbird has a really bad and dated ui. ![]() Anyway, I don’t like the UI in Evolution and the main reason I use linux and not Mac, or *shudder* windows, is so that I can have EVERYTHING exactly the way I want it. Evolution is supposed to support exchange but I couldn’t manage to authenticate. Hiri was built for exchange and does support it very well, but it ONLY supports exchange, aside from being paid. There are a few email apps on linux that do support exchange. The problem in my case was that the boys down in IT didn’t know anything about it, least of all how to grant access and the details I would need to connect. The easy solution is to simply connect using IMAP and SMTP. ![]() A quick google search led to me Mailspring’s github, where the folks say Exchange support has been on the roadmap since 2017. But Lo and Behold, when I went to add the new account in Mailspring like I do with my gmail accounts, it simply did not work. My company recently shifted to working with exchange, and I got a new email address, using Exchange. Mailspring does not yet support Microsoft Exchange email accounts.Įnter Me. There is only one really big issue with Mailspring so far, but it’s a dealbreaker. I mentioned Mailspring, the Email client I use to replace Outlook. This post is kinda sorta a logical continuation to one of my recent posts, where I talk about using linux as a modern and powerful daily-driver desktop OS in 2020. They that url on my browser, I can directly use my own credentials and open the shared mailbox. An adventure in getting my work email account on linux, the way I Want it. So I found some people saying they use a different url to access their shared mailbox. So, somehow, my credentials can be used directly without needing a double login. I did, however told it that the target mailbox was the shared mailbox address. When testing with that tool, I only used my own credentials to access the shared mailbox. I did, however found an online Microsoft tool to test EWS access and it found out that I can access the mailbox and it says it even tries to create a message and then it erases the message. You know, I need to put the shared mailbox credentials and then I still need to put my own credentials, although I myself don't have my own mailbox in their system.Ĭould you explain me how to do that with EWSEditor, please? Sorry, I downloaded and tried EWSEditor but I don't understand how to set it up for double signing-in. In Thunderbird, for credentials I am using "shared_mailbox_username" and "shared_mailbox_password" but davmail keeps logging "authentication failed: invalid user or password".Īny clues or is this too exotic for davmail to work under? Thunderbid is setup for IMAP/SMTP on localhost for the ports that I have setup on davmail. I've setup davmail typing in the usual office365 URL "". I'm using DavMail 5.1.0-2891 on Windows 7 and my email client is Thunderbird 60.5. The OWA website shows that the account logged in is "shared_mailbox_username" and not "my_username". There I need to type "my_username" and "my_password" and only then it shows me the mailbox. ![]() I really have to use type in "shared_mailbox_username", "shared_mailbox_password", and then the website asks me a second time to put in my credentials. OTOH, if I browse to "" and just type in "shared_mailbox_username" and "shared_mailbox_password", it also fails with an error message which I can't recall right now. If I simply browse to "" and just type in "my_username" and "my_password", the website immediately tells me that I don't have a valid mailbox for that user. I have two logins:īear in mind that "my_username" is not a valid mailbox in the system. Their email is hosted by Microsoft and for now I've been accessing their email account using the webmail accessible under is not as direct as one would think. ![]()
